File Shredder

With File Shredder feature, you can overwrite (shred) the files with random characters before securely deleting them. By overwriting these files with junk characters, original data in these files are replaced and thus cannot be recovered back by any data recovery software.

Following are the steps to shred any file:

  1. File Name: - Here, you can give path/location of the file that you want to shred. Click on "Browse" button and go to the file location where it is stored in your system. Select the file and click on "Open" button to save the file location.
  2. Select Shredding Type: - Here, you can select the number of times you want to shred (overwrite) the files before actual deletion. It provides you with five options: -
    Random: - 1 Pass.
    NSA: -7 Passes.
    Gutmann: - 35 Passes.
    DOD 5220.22M: - 3 Passes.
    User Defined: - Here, you can set the value of your choice. (Note: The maximum value you can enter is 100)
  3. Shredder: - This is the final step. When you click "Shredder" button, it prompts you with a message box asking you to confirm deletion. If you click on "Yes" button, Encryption Protection shreds the file and deletes it too. It again prompts you with a message box confirming that the selected file has been shred and deleted.
