Advanced Option
If Modem Spy never hangs up the call, enable software busy and dial tone and silence detector.
Important. You must enable software busy and dial tone option in order to record outbound calls correctly.
Some modems incorrectly detect BUSY signal. Modem Spy stops recording at the middle of recording then. You should disable hardware busy detector in order to get rid of this issue.
Modem Performance factor – this field added for compatibility with some old modems, ISDN and telephony cards. Select another level if program does not work properly.
Silence detector.
Modem Spy will hand up a call once silence is detected. Enabling this option is useful when you hear nothing once remote party hanged up the line.
You may configure the following silence detector parameters:
- Silence Level – the minimum sound value to be assumed as voice. Sound with less value will be assumed as silence (default value: 1000).
- Silence Period – the duration of silence period before hanging up the line (default value: 15 seconds).
- It’s useful to use Voice Indicator to adjust silence parameters. Voice Indicator is a red spot on oscillograph control at Modem Spy main screen.
- Voice activated recording.
- Modem Spy is capable to record only voice without any pauses. Enable this option if you want to reduce hard drive space.
- Important. Decrease Silence Level option if Modem Spy misses words when recording.
Voice Indicator:
- ON – voice energy is present
- OFF – silence is detected
