Secure Backups in CD/DVD
To protect / encrypt your files in a CD-R or CD-RW, all you need to do is insert the media into your CD-RW device and then copy an already created Locker in this drive. This you can do by simply dragging and dropping the Locker in the CD/DVD drive and click ‘Write Files’ in Windows XP/Vista. You can also use the Windows Explorer right-click 'Send To...' and then select CD-R / CD-RW after right clicking the locker file.

If you are using Windows Vista, you can also burn DVD-R or DVD-RW discs using a software that comes with Windows Vista called 'Windows DVD Maker'.
If you are using an older version of Windows that does not come with this feature, then use a CD-RW/DVD-RW burning software like Nero (paid) or InfraRecorder (free), to copy the Locker file with .flk extension to your writeable CD or DVD. Make sure your Locker is closed while you are burning your locker file. You can access these files directly from your CD or DVD by using Folder Lock and providing the correct password without the need of copying it to your computer later.
Please note that it is a must that you create your Locker on your hard drive first, and then burn it on your CD/DVD, since you cannot create a Locker in CD/DVD-RW directly using Folder Lock's browse for Locker Path. You can use CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW discs to perform this task. This way you can always keep a secure backup of your encrypted files and folders in a CD/DVD. |
