Password-protect USB Drive
There are two methods you can use to protect data in USB / External drives with Folder Lock.
- Plug-in your USB drive to your computer and then run Folder Lock and click the 'New' tab. Click the browse button next to Locker path field and select the USB path from the file browser and choose a file name below. Now set and confirm a new password for this locker and then click 'Add files & folders' button to add the files and folders you want protected and then click the 'Encrypt Now' button.
- Alternatively, you can also click 'Portability' button on the left side of the screen after entering the correct password and select 'Move to USB Drive' or 'Copy to USB Drive' buttons. You can then select the USB drive path from the drive selection option to move your Locker to the USB drive.

After performing any of the above two actions, Folder Lock will prompt you with a Portable Security option. If you choose 'Yes', Folder Lock will create an AutoPlay password protection for this drive. An executable FL USB.exe will run automatically whenever you plug-in your USB drive to any computer, asking you the Locker path and correct password to open your Lockers. This means, you do not need to install Folder Lockagain when you move your USB drive from one computer to another. If you have AutoPlay feature disabled, you can run FL USB.exe directly to open your Lockers in your portable drive through any computer. This feature is only available in the full version of Folder Lock. See below for clarification:

This feature is disabled in the trial version. Trial users need to install Folder Lock on other computers to open their lockers.
On a computer where Folder Lock is installed, you can simply plug in the USB Drive and double click the Locker or browse the Locker Path and enter your password to get full access to your files and folders protected inside the Locker. |
