General Settings

Show in Taskbar:
Use this option to show or hide Folder Lock from the taskbar. Taskbar is the bottom Start panel where mostly all programs show their tab. When you uncheck this checkbox, Folder Lock will no longer show itself as a tab under taskbar and will instead show itself in System Tray. Note: Folder Lock doesn't allow youto uncheck both 'Show in Taskbar' and 'Show in Tray' options for obvious reasons.

Show in Tray:
Use this option to show or hide Folder Lock in the system tray. System Tray is located normally at the bottom-right corner where you see a clock and other small icons. When you uncheck this checkbox, Folder Lock will no longer show itself in the system tray and will instead show in Taskbar. Note: You can choose to show both in Taskbar and System Tray, a setting recommended by default.

Play Sounds:
Folder Lock makes some sound effects that may interest you. However, if you are working in a noise-free environment, you can turn off the sounds by simply unchecking this option.

Show Tips:
Familar with the program already? You can turn off this option and you'll not be shown any tips.

Show in Context Menu:
Folder Lock allows you to show itself in the context menu. When you right-click any file or folder, you'll see a 'Folder Lock' menu. You can lock or encrypt any file or folder using the options in it. This feature is workable only if Folder Lock is not running already. It allows you to quickly work with files and folders you wish to protect without the need to start the program first. You can diable the Folder Lock menu from the Windows Context Menu by simply unchecking this option.

Transfer Method to use in Add for Encrypt:
This option is useful for people who are very serious about their security and responsible enough not to forget their password. By default, this option is set to 'Move Items'. If however, you select 'Move after Shredding', Folder Lock will ensure that the data you move from a drive to the Locker will be permanently deleted from the original location. For example, consider that you choose the shredding option and move some files and folders from E:\ to your Locker, then the files originally in the E:\ will no longer be recoverable through a recovery / undelete software. After selecting the 'Shred Original Files' there is no way to recover the files that are moved from the original location to the Lockers, therefore make sure you know what you're doing. Folder Lock is a sophisticated security product therefore we suggest you choose this option with care. People interested in keeping a copy of their data on their original location can also do so by selecting the 'Leave a Copy' option. This is useful for people who keep regular backups of their files and folders in their Lockers.

Uninstall Program:
Folder Lock can't be uninstalled directly. If you try to uninstall Folder Lock from the Add/Remove programs or by using the uninstall icon in the Start Menu, you will be first prompted to login to Folder Lock and then use the 'Uninstall Program' feature in the General Settings. Clicking this button will uninstall Folder Lock completely.
