Password Manager
Go to the Password Manager Function Module
- You can click the 'Password Manager' button on the navigation panel to go to the Password Manager function module.
- It can manage information such as your passwords, registration codes, email accounts and FTP accounts. The guidelines below use passwords as an example.
- For consideration of information security, passwords are stored in encrypted format.
Navigation Panel
- You can click a button such as 'Password' or 'Software Registration Code' at the top of the navigation panel to switch to the corresponding type of password management.
- Passwords can be managed by group. You can click 'New Group' on the 'Actions' menu to create a new password group. 'Other Passwords' is the default group in EfficientPIM. If a password does not belong to any custom group, it will belong to the 'Other Passwords' group. You can not delete or rename the 'Other Passwords' group, or add a subgroup for it.
- If you click the name of a group, passwords belonging to this group appear in the password list on the right.
- When you right-click the name of a group on the group list, you can rename or delete this group.
- Drag and drop is supported when you manage groups. You can drag 'Group A' to 'Group B' to make it a subgroup of 'Group B'; and you can also drag 'Group A' to 'All Passwords' or 'Other Passwords' to make it a normal group (i.e. a group that is not a subgroup of any other group).
Password Display List
The password display list is on the right side of the main window. When you right-click the list, a popup menu appears. You can double-click a password to open it in the edit password window. If you double-click some blank space in the list, the window to add a new password will display.
If you press 'Ctrl+N', the window to add a new password will appear; when you press 'Ctrl+O', the window to edit the currently selected password will appear; and when you press 'Ctrl+D', the currently selected password will be deleted and moved to the Recycle Bin.
By default, passwords in the list are displayed in the form '****'. You can click the 'Hide Password' button on the toolbar to switch between display modes: to display passwords in the form '****' or in plain text.
You can manage the grouping of passwords by drag and drop. You can drag a password in the list directly into a group in the navigation panel on the left.
Add New Password and Edit Password
The window to add a new password and to edit a password is the same. By default, the password box in a new password window uses the form '****'. You can click the 'Hide password' check box to switch between display modes: to display the password in the form '****' or in plain text.
After you have entered all the information of the password in the new password window, press 'Ctrl+S' to save it.
