Windows NT/2000/XP Settings:

  • Windows NT4 must have Service Pack 6 installed.
  • Users must currently have Administrative rights (This will be rectified in a future version.)
  • Set the following registry value to disable Auto-Insert Notification: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom/Autorun=0
  • Rebooting the system is advisable, but not required.
  • Make sure that your IDE/ATAPI drivers for your motherboard are updated. Some motherboards have an issue sending data to a CDR/DVD if these drivers are not updated. If you have a writing problem, this is one of the first things you should check. Device Manager - IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Having updated drivers is very important when using SPTI instead of ASPI.

General Issues:

AIN (Auto-Insert Notification) - Be aware that other CD aware applications (Nero, Roxio, WinOnCD, etc.) may change the settings above causing all kinds of issues. We recommend uninstalling these products if possible or at least making your application aware of these problems.

You may need to disable "Auto Insert Notification" (AIN) for your CD recorder. The problem is that when the table of contents is being recorded, Window’s suddenly "sees" the new CD and tries to read it, which can cause the burn to fail.

To disable Auto Insert Notification, click the Preferences menu item from the File menu. Uncheck the "Auto Insert Notification" item and click OK. You will have to reboot. Note that after disabling AIN, when you put a CD into your drive, it will not recognize it unless you go to My Computer and double click the CD drive. You can always turn AIN back on by re-checking the AIN checkbox. Also, when you uninstall Audio & Data Music CD Burner, it will reset AIN to the original setting.

ASPI DRIVERS - Certain products mentioned above can install incompatible, non-standard ASPI drivers. Audio & Data Music CD Burner does not rely on ASPI for Windows NT/XP/2000, but Windows 95/98/ME users may be experience compatibility issues if other products have installed non-standard drivers. If this is the case, uninstalling the problem software should fix the problem.
