Target size |
The Target size is specified in mega bytes and has to be entered in the text field above the list. It determines the maximum combined size of the smaller copies that are created from the selected files. |

Allow Size Exceed
|
Here you can enter a percentage that governs by how much the Target Size can be exceeded.
When converting a file Ashampoo Movie Shrink & Burn 3 tries to guess the encoding parameters it has to use so that the resulting file's size is close to but still below the target size. However, sometimes files end up larger than expected (this is caused by some program "magic" that tries to keep the quality constant even if a lot of stuff happens at once in a given movie scene). Usually Ashampoo Movie Shrink & Burn 3 will then re-encode the file with slightly lower quality to compensate for this. However, that also takes some time, so if you do not care if the target size is exceeded by a small amount it is better not to re-encode the file and accept it as it is. You can do that by entering the exceed percentage of the target size that you want to allow in this field. |
|
Split files at size
|
If you enter a value in this field then the program will split the generated movie files into chunks of this size. Please note that splitting introduces some additional overhead, so if you split, for example, 200 MB worth of movies into two 100 MB chunks then the quality of them will be slightly lower than it would have been if you had created a single 200 MB movie.
If you do not want to split the files then you should leave this field empty. |

Est. output size

This field displays how big the smaller copies of the files will probably be. For convenience, it also displays the Target Size you entered in the field above.

Output Movie Quality
|
This is one of the most important fields in the screen. It shows the estimated quality the shrunk movies will have. If the original files already fit into the target size and if they already have the selected output format, then this field will display Unchanged, because it is not necessary to convert the files or change the quality. However, if the files have to be converted, then this field will show the quality you can expect from the resulting files. Smaller files usually have worse quality.
TIP: Add as many files as you like, until the movie quality indicator at the bottom reaches the lowest quality you find acceptable. |
